Overview
This series of planeside and planetop art for War in the Pacific (WITP) represents a broad spectrum of changing aircraft camouflage and insignia from Pearl Harbor through the end of World War II.

The project intent is to complete aircraft artwork for WITP historically accurate within the limitations of the game. A dizzying array of aircraft types and variants flew in the Pacific Theater over the course of World War II. Camouflage schemes changed often, and official insignia changed even more so to eliminate any confusion with the Hinomaru. In distant bases and along front lines altering insignia and paint was often a low priority, official bulletins outlining changes were not always clear, and exceptions to the rules were everywhere. The project cannot lay claim to absolute accuracy, but the emphasis is on a well-researched, and reasonoble interpretation, with some artistic license, of what many aircraft would have looked like in color and insignia. By using the Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler, the user can update art along with the changing timeline of WITP, providing a fairly accurate representation of artwork within the scope of the game.

The work on this site is original. Nothing has been copied or reduced from other existing work. The art here is based on a wide range of reference materials, historical photographs, scale models, decals, or detailed drawings. Historical accuracy is a primary consideriation.
